The Annual Meeting of The Professional Learning to advance Early Education Reform (ProLEER) , which gathered national and international experts, took place between October 1st to 2nd at the Gutman Library of the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Pelusa Orellana presented his paper titled “The Alma Family Literacy Program: Effects on Chilean preschoolers’ early literacy outcomes, home language and literacy environment, and parental self- efficacy”. The study measures the impact of a shared reading program conducted by parents. Thanks to the Fundación Alma, the pre-reading skills of their children in vulnerable contexts (PK and Kindergarten) improved. “The results were very positive” the academic said.
“It was a very interesting and comprehensive event. ProLEER provided a valuable update on what is happening in reading across Latin America and the challenges of scaling evidence-based programs.”
ProLEER is an international network of experts in the educational field that aims to improve practice and policy in children’s language, literacy, and learning for preschool and primary education.
Once a year, the group of international experts gathers at the Harvard Graduate School of Education to exchange their experiences and knowledge through talks, panel discussions, and informal activities that fostered enriching dialogues between the participants.
